A Guide to Playing Big Texas Holdem Hands

What will separate the profitable Texas Holdem player from the average is that the former will be able to maximize the potential profits from playing the big hands. However, this is something that you can learn even if you are just starting out.

The biggest Texas Holdem hands are the pocket AAs down to JJ. Whenever you get one of these hands, regardless of your position, you should raise before the flop. The reason is that obviously, you are holding the best hand for the current game and can take the pot down easily.

However, there is another reason, and that is to get other players to fold to maintain the strength of your hand. For example, a KK is a very strong hand, but if the flop has a Q or A, several players with various combinations of AKJQ will go in, increasing the chance that someone will beat you with a set, straight or other draws.

For this reason, when you get premium Texas Holdem hands, regardless of position, you raise and re raise, whether you are early, middle or late. Make them fold or make it expensive to see the flop. If a couple of other players still call, you can be confident about playing on, because with one or two players with you, the odds will be heavily in your favor.

The other strong Texas Holdem hands are those involving various combinations of Aces, Kings, Queens and Jacks. Depending on the combination, these hands are still strong. They often make overpairs, and make for decent kickers. However, you should be careful about playing these hands too, because they can be susceptible on the flop.

However, for the most part they are strong hands, and in short handed Texas Holdem games, they are usually good enough to win the hand, and are very strong against other pairs. Of course, the same can be said for the premium hands.

The key point to remember when holding powerful Texas Holdem hands is that you should try to maximize their potential. Too many players just get careless and give away their holdings, leading to early folds by opponents and wasted opportunities for big money earnings.

Always make sure you know exactly what you are holding, and then play it based on your reading of the situation and the strength of the high hand. Stick to this approach and you will rake in the most money possible in the Texas Holdem hand.
